Description
The audience will gain a better understanding of new drugs and treatments for diabetes and which testing is appropriate based on a patient's symptoms.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify new diabetes treatment options
2. Assess the patients to appropriately initiate new treatment protocols
3. Implement new diabetes protocols with new medications
4. Identify potential side effects and contradictions of new diabetes medications
5. Further, be able to improve diabetes treatment

The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. Dr. Dustin Higgins was born and raised in Gilbert, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. He is the seventh of nine children. He went to college at Brigham Young University, and then to medical school at Midwestern University in Illinois. He was trained in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis and then completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Washington University in St. Louis. He currently practices in Quincy, Illinois as the only Endocrinologist in his group. He enjoys fishing and pond swimming with his wife and six boys.
Dr. Higgins discloses that he was paid by Novo Nordisk as a speaker within the past twelve months. He no longer has a relationship with Novo Nordisk.
