Fast Jam with Murphy and Casey – Murphy and Casey Henry
If our Slow Jam DVDs are too slow, you are ready to take on the Fast Jam! Murphy and Casey Henry gather once more with Malia Furtado on fiddle and Steve Spence on bass to pick twenty-one songs that will test your speed and hone your jamming ability. Three important tunes from the Slow Jam DVDs are repeated here (only faster!) and nineteen new instrumentals and singing songs will challenge you to expand your repertoire.
As always the tunes are played through several times and we leave a spot where we play rhythm so that you can try out your break. “I’m Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes” is perfect to use your fancy, up-the-neck banjo backup; “Blackberry Blossom” will test your chord changing ability; and some tunes we’ve never taught banjo breaks to (“The Crawdad Song,” “Slewfoot”), leaving you free to improvise to your heart’s content.
For all instruments.
John Hardy, Lonesome Road Blues, Mama Don’t Allow, Little Maggie, When the Roll is Called, Salt Creek, Sally Goodwin, Uncloudy Day, Bill Cheatham, Blackberry Blossom, Cripple Creek, Whiskey Before Breakfast, East Virginia Blues, Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes, Turkey in the Straw, The Crawdad Song, What a Friend, Old Slewfoot, In the Pines, Hazel Creek, Old Spinning Wheel (90 minutes)

The Murphy Method is a way of teaching bluegrass music BY EAR. We use no tablature in our teaching because we believe tablature is a crutch that interferes with learning to play bluegrass. We explain each song note by note, so that it is easy and quick to learn. As you learn these tunes, you are also developing your ear, so that learning actually gets easier as you go along!
We hope you will soon be joining the thousands of Murphy Method students all over the world who are learning to play bluegrass the Murphy Method way. One reason our Method is so successful is that we work with you slowly, one step at a time. First you will be learning the easy songs, which will provide a solid foundation. Then you will move onto harder songs, which won’t seem so hard because you will have already learned the basics.
Many of our students tell us that the Murphy Method is the fastest, easiest, most enjoyable way to learn that they have ever tried. And the facts speak for themselves: our students are learning to play!
