Families dealing with anxiety are often locked into cognitive and behavioral patterns that are rigid, overwhelming, and controlling. This workshop provides tools and interventions to interrupt the predictable elements of anxiety, help parents shift out of their anxious behavior, and teach families a plan to handle the process of worry.
Educational Objectives:
- List three homework assignments to give anxious families.
- Describe three ways that families strengthen anxious patterns.
- Describe the difference between content and process when treating anxiety.

Lynn Lyons, LICSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist who lives in Concord, New Hampshire and is in private practice there. For 26 years, Lynn has specialized in the treatment of anxiety disorders in adults and children. Lynn received her BA in English from Williams College in 1987, her Masters in Social Work from Boston University in 1990, and has been training extensively with the world’s experts in clinical hypnosis and strategic therapy since 1993.
