- Identify barriers to a resident’s peaceful existence in a long term care setting.
- Discuss the role of the ancillary staff in providing a safe environment for their residents
- Understand the risks and benefits of pharmaceutical management of disruptive patient behaviors
- Lament the psychosocial and medical toll that the novel coronavirus pandemic has taken on long term care residents and staff.
The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Peter Hoftiezer, DO Related seminars and products: 2
Peter K. Hoftiezer DO, FAAFP practices in Chariton, Iowa. After obtaining a Bachelor of Sciencein Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, he completed his undergraduate medical training at A T Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He remained in Kirksville, Missouri where he completed his familymedicine residency training at Northeast Regional Medical Center. He then completed his Geriatrics Fellowship at Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania and subsequently earned a Master’s in Medical Education through the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He enjoys lecturing for the medical students in Kirksville and teaches there one day a week in the family medicine residency program.
